4 Killer Strategies To Inspire Your Personnel

Lots of people these days feel as if they're in a downward spiral in the office. Employees that feel rejuvenated aspire to work harder to achieve company goals with some sort of incentive, whether it is some engraved plaque that's given at an employee event, or changing up the environment within the office that will promote interaction with all the employees.

A person's contribution can be rewarded in several ways. This involves manager and personnel collaboration. The staff might be evaluated by the managers in their department, which may be a great indication for things such as a quarterly award. Even so, don't underestimate the role that staff can play in evaluating each other. You might place a "good comment" box in the department to allow fellow employees to drop comments, either on a personal or professional level. This is going to be able to inform managers on who's a good team player, who builds team moral, who's performing at a higher level that is noted by the other employees and so forth. Go big when planning the ceremony for your staff. Give your employees expensive, fancy engraved awards to the top-performing employees or the biggest team player, or anybody else you think needs acknowledgment so they realize this is a true expression of gratitude rather than just a corny award. Provide a good meal spread and drinks, too. Be sure to do whatever it takes to make your employees award ceremony special, fun event that you hope they enjoy.

Another thing you can do is to change the feng shui. A lot of companies are steering away from the traditional cubicles to a more open space that allows the creative juices to flow and the employees are able to see and interact with each other in a more soothing environment. Lots of people actually believe that employees have higher productivity whenever they can see each other because they are able to feed off their energy and less likely to slack off when others around them can see what they are doing. Businesses are leaning towards more colorful, open, properly lit spaces that will be more pleasing and provide a variety in their seating, from armchairs to couches, that may allow employees more space: moving and changing energy may also move and change peoples thinking to be more creative.

It is also a great idea for employees, manager and bosses to attend a happy hour or dinner outside of the workplace. Office “happy hour” Friday or mid-week dates are an existing and good stand-by, but don’t overlook options like office outings to spas, sporting events, concerts, and even destination getaways. There is nothing wrong with having a little friendly competition between the employees that may go towards performance incentives, just don't make every one about who won or lost. A great way to bring underperforming employees up to par is to encourage that sense of camaraderie and cooperation that comes when your office feels like one big friendly family.

If you are in a position to be able to do so, allowing the employees some selection in hours and days they would like to work can be great. For instance, if you want to work ten-hour days and have three days a week off. By allowing your employees this, if it's even a possibility, will give you a happier, harder working staff. In addition to sick time and traditional paid vacation, try to offer a few paid sabbatical or “wellness” days to employees who have been around for a while. When possible, allow your employees to work from home a day or two or even from a coffee shop for a few hours. Other considerations that could make your employees appreciate their employer more is monthly movies, bring your pet to work day or pajama Tuesday which all leads to a company that's got workers who continue to work harder to keep the wonderful position they've got.
